West End Inspector Casting

Stephen Daldry’s multi award-winning production of JB Priestley’s classic drama An Inspector Calls returns to the West End for a strictly-limited season of eight weeks, following a hugely successful UK tour.

Stephen Daldry returns to re-direct the show with actor Nicholas Woodeson, who played the part of Inspector Goole on Broadway where the production won fourteen awards, and now reprises the role in the West End. Further casting includes David Roper as Arthur Birling, Sandra Duncan as Sybil Birling, Marianne Oldham as Sheila Birling and Robin Whiting as Eric Birling. Timothy Watson will play the role of Gerald Croft and Diana Payne Myers will play Edna.

Following its initial success at the National Theatre, Stephen Daldry’s production transferred to the West End for two years, prior to a world tour. In 1993 the production opened on Broadway, winning an unprecedented string of awards, including four Tonys. Winning a total of nineteen major awards since it first opened, this landmark production has played in Australia, the United States, Japan and Europe, and, as well as its first West End run, has completed six major UK tours and a return visit to the West End which lasted for over eight years. Well in excess of 2 million theatergoers have watched the production at nearly 5000 performances.

The production will run at the Novello Theatre from 22nd September to 14th November, 2009.
