York Shakespeare Project

This summer's York Shakespeare Project's production, the eleventh since it began in 2001, will be As You Like It, which opens on 16th July and runs until 27th (no performance on Tuesday 22nd). The venue will be the Residence Garden at York Minister (enter through Dean's Park).

It's a modern setting of the play: "Join us in York's answer to the Forest of Arden and see the legendary Charles the Wrestler take on new-boy Orlando in the Fight of the Century, meet displaced Rosalind and her faithful cousin Celia and find out what the Godfather Gangster Duke Frederick has planned for the future..." says the publicity.

Tickets are £8 (£6 concessions) and are available from York Theatre Royal or at the gate. School parties (ten students or more) pay £4 each if booked in advance through the YSP: contact Anna Sharp at anna.j.sharp@googlemail.com and quote 'As You Like It Schools Offer'.

The YSP autumn production will be The Merchant of Venice, followed next summer by Much Ado About Nothing.
