South Shields theatre company Walton-Gunn Productions has announced the cast for its latest show Wendy the Wonderful Witch: A Halloween Panto.

Leading the cast as Wendy will be 18-year-old Georgina Whale-Spencer, daughter of Ray Spencer, actor, entertainer and Executive Director of the Customs House, and actor and singer Patricia L Whale. The part was formerly played by Sarah Boulter who most recently appeared at the Customs House in The Dolly Mixtures.

The popular character is now set for a new generation of performer, said writer-director Wayne Miller.

“For many years, the character of Wendy was played so wonderfully by Sarah, but like many greats they continue on… just like James Bond. A new actor gets the chance to make it their own, bring new life to it and to a new audience too. That’s just what Georgina is going to do, and do it so well.”

Miller (best known as Santa’s Naughty Elf) plays Dame Tickle and North East performer Beth Clarke will be Dame Tickle’s son Tommy. Walton-Gunn’s dancers Gracie Gillies, Daisy Lincoln, Hollie Cairns, Katelyn Moore and Maisie Tomlin complete the cast.

Wendy The Wonderful Witch runs at The Westovian Theatre (The Pier Pavilion), South Shields, on 30 and 31 October. Tickets are £8 (£30 for a family ticket) available from Ticketsource.
