Honour is a large-scale outdoor arts commission that combines the work of Phoenix Dance Theatre, Theatre In The Quarter, digital artists, including the first UK-based work from German duo Hartung Trenz, and a choir of hundreds of people set to sing a stirring finale.

Developed by artist Craig Morrison and Quays Culture, this is the latest in a series of special events on the former industrial docklands of Salford and Manchester, bringing open air, cultural experiences to audiences in the north west.

Completely free of charge, it will be a one-of-a-kind artistic response to the First World War commemorations and will be performed at the Quays at Media City in Salford on Saturday August 2.

At the heart of the performances is the poetry of war poets, including the Welsh language poet Hedd Wyn and German expressionist poet August Stramm.

Stories of soldiers drawn from communities around the Docks area, and the loved ones left behind, will add to the poignant reflection before fireworks transport the audience to the thunder of the battlefield.
