Welsh Dance Writing Workshop

Academi, Wales’ National Literature Promotion Agency, has teamed up with Diversions to present a Dance Writing Workshop on 9th and 10th June as part of this year’s South Wales Dance Festival – Horizons.

Aimed at journalists and writers with an interest in dance, the workshop will include performance viewings, a discussion forum with choreographers, and workshops with dance critic Luke Jennings (The Observer) and renowned Cardiff Capital Poet Gillian Clarke. It is a unique chance to discuss performances with choreographers and other journalists in the industry and also to develop your skills in writing sharp and concise reviews of dance shows.

The discussion forum will take place in a wine reception on Friday 9th June, followed by a performance of Alternative Routes - a triple bill of exciting new work by Wales' best emerging choreographers. The workshops with Luke Jennings and Gillian Clarke are the following day, Saturday 10th June, and will take Friday's performance as a starting point for discussion. All events will take place in Diversions' Dance House in the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay.

Tickets cost £50 (£45 concessions), which includes four dance performances, wine reception and all workshops. Delegates will be able to see three other performances which are part of the South Wales Dance Festival - Horizons.

Reviews of Horizons festival performances written by those who have attended the workshops will be published on various news and performance websites.
