Extra Money for Accessibility in Wales

The Arts Council of Wales (ACW) has announced a £1million allocation for capital projects that will improve the accessibility to arts venues for disabled people. The funding scheme will ensure compliance with Part III of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA), which comes into force in October 2004. DDA compliance projects are a priority in the Arts Council of Wales Capital Strategy for the Distribution of Lottery funds from 2003 to 2006.

The scheme is open to non-publicly owned venues only. There are no deadlines for applications as the scheme operates as a rolling programme. All applications will be assessed against the criteria of the Capital Lottery Scheme that are set out in A Guide to Applying for Capital Lottery Grants from the ACW.

Venues must have had a recent access audit carried out before applying.
