The new director is ormer Theatrical Management Association president Barbara Matthews. Her appointment has been welcomed by major industry figures such as SOLT and TMA chief executive Richard Pulford who told the newspaper, "We are absolutely delighted by this appointment. Barbara has immense experience, not only in the UK in both the subsidised and commercial sectors, but also across the world." Gus Casely-Hayford, ACEs recently appointed executive director of arts strategy, said, "Barbara brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to ACE and an intimacy with the theatre sector shared by few. She will lead a dedicated team, looking to build on recent achievements and bring our strategies to life." She has worked as a theatre producer, arts consultant and trainer. She has worked with music theatre, dance and opera companies, with Hampstead Theatre, the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith, the RSC, NESTA and the University of California.
