Now in its second year, the Achates Philanthropy Prize has doubled its prize fund providing for a Corporate Philanthropy Prize in addition to the existing Individual Prize for first time arts sponsorship.

The Achates Philanthropy Prize, which has a total prize fund to £10,000, is the only celebration of first time cultural giving in the UK.

Nigel Farnall, last year’s Prize winner who suggested the new corporate award said, “as the winner of the first Achates Philanthropy Prize in 2016, I am delighted that my suggestion of a second prize for corporate philanthropy has led to this announcement today.

"As the co-founder of a small business myself, I know that corporate support can be a great way of getting involved with charity. As a judge of the 2017 Prize, I am looking forward to hearing how companies and philanthropists of all levels are getting behind the arts.”

For the Individual Philanthropy Prize, organisations across all art forms are invited to nominate an outstanding individual or trust who has given philanthropically towards their organisation for the first time within the last 12 months, at all levels of giving.

For the Corporate Philanthropy Prize, cultural charities across all art forms are invited to nominate an outstanding company of any size.

Whilst the nominating organisations each receive £5,000 towards their work, the winners' philanthropy is recognised by having a sculpture by renowned British artist, Peter Brooke-Ball MRBS, for the year.

The Achates Philanthropy Prize is supported by Achates Philanthropy Ltd with two first-time arts sponsors, BOP Consulting and Spektrix.

The nominations period opens in June. The Old Vic will host the Achates Philanthropy Prize in November 2017 where the winners will be announced.
