Spanish visual arts and dance company Voalá will headine Derby Festé 2014—the city’s “ultimate street festival”—with Muaré, a “mesmerising cocktail of live rock and aerial acrobatics”.

Festé is Derby’s “popular post-summer annual extravaganza” which showcases outdoor acts and performances by companies from across the UK and abroad.

The festival starts on Friday 26 September with Faust by Bad Taste Company on the city’s Cathedral Green. Physical theatre and break-dancing will combine as this retelling of Goethe’s tragic tale taps into the spirit of gangsters, bootleggers, gamblers and flappers.

On Saturday evening, Voalá’s aerial choreography will combine will skydiving thrills in Muaré, a show that will “generate intense emotions through images and powerful, original live music”.

Stephen Munn, artistic lead for Derby Festé, said, “Voalá’s show is the perfect complement to the Festé 2014 programme. We always want to present something out of this world and the exciting mixture of live rock music, breathtaking aerial acrobatics and lighting will provide an unforgettable experience for the audience.”

Tickets for Muaré which will be staged on Bass’s Recreation Ground cost £5. All other shows are free. The full programme is available at the Derby Festé web site.
