Open to the Public

This November the Actors' Centre will be running its first ever open access course, 'Introduction to Acting', designed especially for those people seriously interested in becoming actors but unsure where to start.

The Actors' Centre has a national reputation for excellence in providing continuing professional development for those in the performing arts and until now classes have only been available to professional actors.

Artistic Director of the Actors' Centre, Matthew Lloyd, comments, "We get a lot of enquiries from members of the public who are interested in pursuing their dream of becoming an actor, but are bewildered by how to go about it. We wanted to help them make sense of their options while at the same time offering high quality introductory training that would prepare them for taking the next step. We are very excited about being able to offer people an opportunity to explore their potential while working alongside high calibre industry professionals."

The course will run over four weeks on Saturdays and Sundays and one night per week. Workshops will be in key elements of actor training like Voice, Improvisation, TV Technique, Singing, Shakespeare and Movement as well as solid weekly sessions on text work and honing their audition technique.

As the course is limited to only twelve people, participants will receive personalised advice about making a career as an actor, from guidance on applying for drama schools to tips on getting an agent. There will also be plenty of opportunity throughout the course for individuals to get constructive feedback on their progress. All classes will be taught by tutors from the Actors Centre stable of respected industry professionals.

The course will cost £550 and is open to anyone with an interest in and commitment to developing their potential as a performer.
