The Actors Centre began its life as a conversation on a couch at a party. Clive Swift, Sheila Hancock and actor and director John Alderton discussed with leading fight director William Hobbs the need for a place where actors could connect with each other informally, a place where they could learn new skills and brush up on old ones in-between and while working.
Today the Centre runs over 1700 classes and has a membership of approximately 2000. It has just undergone a half million pound refurbishment to improve disabled access and install air-conditioning throughout the building.
The Actors Centres 30th Birthday Party will start at 6.30pm on Sunday 2nd November at their home at 1a Tower St, Covent Garden.
