The Actors Company at Jermyn Street

The Actor’s Company, a repertory company of forty-two actors, will present three new productions in their annual season at Jermyn Street Theatre. The plays will be set in the 1940s and examine the effects of war on society.

The Trojan Women by Euripides (Translated by Neil Curry)

Preview Monday 27th Sept. Opening night: Wednesday 29th Sept at 7.30pm

Set in a refugee camp in with a cast of fourteen, this intimate production examines the personal effects of war on a small group of women. Edmund Joliff’s original score will reflect the mood of the time with a Mediterranean tone. Diana Hillier’s recent directing credits include The Diary of Anne Frank at the Palace Theatre, Watford and Travel Club and Boy Soldier by Wole Soyinka at RNT Studio.

Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare

Preview Thursday 30th Sept. Opening night: Friday 1st Oct at 7.30pm

A group of RAF officers return from their latest victory in World War II to celebrate in the garden of an English country house. Here The Watch becomes the Home Guard, and will be played entirely by women. Laura Baggaley recently directed Wind in the Willows, The Baby Sitter by René de Obaldia and Peter Barnes’s Leonardo’s Last Supper at the Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park.

A great production of a modern classic. For last year’s LCTS season David directed a highly successful production of Terence Rattigan’s Flare Path. MD Paul Harvard’s recent credits include The History Boys at RNT. Heather Douglas’s recent West End credits include Jus’ Like That and The Beautiful and the Damned.
