The advanced course in drama and performance in professional theatre at Malvern Theatres

Malvern Theatres is offering an advanced course in drama and performance for professional theatre.

The course will offer training in acting, direction, voice, movement and musical theatre. It will also offer specialised sessions focusing on audition technique, production and stage combat.

Course directors will be Nic Lloyd, Malvern Theatres’ chief executive, West End actress Kim Ismay and theatre director Sophie Boyce Couzens. All aspects of the course will be led by professionals.

Lloyd said, “the course is aimed very much at students who have a serious desire to work within the theatre industry. What we’re aiming to do is to give them a little bit of experience of what it will be like when they go to drama school.”

Malvern Theatres Young Company’s 2018 summer project will be Sophocles’ Antigone which will be staged in the Worcestershire town’s Festival Theatre in August before going to the Edinburgh Fringe.

Auditions for both Antigone and the advanced course will be held on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 January 2018. Applicants must be aged 16 or over. Further information is available at the Malvern Theatres web site.
