Dateline: 8th October, 2004
Almeida Casting Islington's Almeida has announced casting for its next four productions, starting in November. The world premiere of Peter Whelan's The Earthly Paradise, a play about William and Janey Morris and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, features Saffron Burrows as Janey, Nigel Lindsay as Morris and Alan Cox as Rossetti. Directed by Robert Delamere, it runs from 24th November (previews from 18th) to 8th January. It is followed (20th January to 5th March, previews from 13th January) by Macbeth, which will be directed by John Caird. Simon Russell Beale plays Macbeth and Emma Fielding his wife. Joining them in the cast are Tom Burke (Malcolm), Paul Higgins (Macduff), Paul Ritter (Ross), John Rogan (Porter/Doctor) and Hilary Sesta, Jane Thorne and Janet Whiteside (Witches) Third up is a new production of Ibsen's Hedda Gabler, in a new version by Richard Eyre, who also directs. Eve Best stars and the production runs from 16th March (previews from 10th) to 30th April. Finally in the new season, Lorca's Blood Wedding, in a new version by Tanya Ronder, will be directed by Rufus Norris and will star Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal. It opens on 12th May (previews from 5th) and runs until 18th June. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
