Alphabetti's basement theatre

Newcastle’s Alphabetti Theatre has to leave its basement home in the spring. In a statement the theatre said:

“After two wonderful years in our little basement, we have been given our notice and so March 2017 will be our time to say goodbye! As many of you are aware, occupying the basement was always on a temporary basis until the site was to be demolished and so the time has now come.

“However we have already begun to look for a new venue! We ain't about to give up that easily! We have been to view 3 or 4 possibilities in and around the Newcastle area and our search continues every day in order to have something ready for March. Watch this space!”

There will be a final season of work between January and March, most of which is already programmed but some dates are free so the statement goes on to say:

“We therefore thought it would be good to hand over to you lovely people! So if you have been desperate to perform in the basement, now is your last chance as we have 31 January, 1, 2, 21 & 22 February still available. If you would like to be considered for one or more of these dates then submit your ideas by Sunday 11 December to [email protected].”
