Dateline: 9th March, 2005 Rogers Abandons Billy Veteran music theatre actress Anne Rogers, who first played the part of Polly Browne in The Boyfriend, has left the cast of Billy Elliott - the Musical. A press statement said, "By mutual agreement Anne Rogers has left Stephen Daldry’s production of Billy Elliot. As rehearsals progressed the role of Grandma changed considerably leading to Ms. Rogers’ departure from the production.” Her agent explained to the Stage that the cast had been told that cuts had to be amde because the show was overrunning and she felt that "her part was already small and decided it was best to leave." She is, the agent added, very sad about it as she was looking forward to returning to the West End. She was playing Billy's grandmother. No replacement has yet been announced.
