Sarah Brigham: Derby Theatre's artistic director will start the programme

Derby Theatre is to start an online programme of artist-led activities, Futures Unlocked, for 15- to 25-year-olds.

Every fortnight, a new artist will give an insight into his or her work and career through an Instagram live interview. The artists involved include a director, musician, actor, theatre maker and an award-winning writer. A week after the interview each artist will run a practical workshop on Zoom.

Sarah Brigham, artistic director and chief executive of Derby Theatre, will begin the programme on Tuesday 23 June from 4:30 until 5PM.

The other artists include novelist Alex Wheatle MBE, whose novels include Home Girl and Crongton Knights which won the Guardian children’s fiction prize paperback in 2016; Rukus, artistic director of Baby People and an artist, producer, DJ, rapper and musician; experimental theatre maker Tim Crouch; and Alex Nowak, a deaf actor who uses both speech and British Sign Language.
