Arts Centre Washington has announced its programme from September to December. Theatre highlights are:

    Cranked Anvil presents
    Cornered by Jeff Brown and Wise Men Say by Paul Dunn

    A double bill of plays centred around Sunderland football club

    Mimika Theatre presents
    Small Worlds

    Step inside the small world of Mimika Theatre’s white tent and meet five characters—a bug, a goose, a fox cub, a cat and a six-year-old girl—and watch their wordless stories unfold.

    Most Wanted in association with LittleMighty present
    Life by the Throat

    Life-long thief James Joseph Patrick Keogh is a force to be reckoned with. This is the story of his extraordinary journey, from the womb to the tomb—written and performed by a woman.

    Based on a combination of lived experience and interviews with bank robbers, thieves and addicts, writer/performer Eve Steele (Coronation Street) channels the life of this remarkable individual.

    Mad Alice Theatre Company presents
    She Wins All the Races - A Tragicomedy with Biscuits

    A one-woman show about a little girl growing up with the certainty of loss, performed by Shelley O’Brien and based on her real-life story of growing up with her two brothers who were born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

    Dogs Don’t Do Ballet

    Biff is not like other dogs. He doesn't do dog stuff like weeing on lampposts, or scratching his fleas, or drinking out of the toilet. No, Biff likes moonlight and music and walking on his tiptoes. You see, Biff doesn't think he's a dog. He thinks he's a ballerina!

    GLOW + Neon Party

    An immersive performance of hip hop dance and circus skills at 6PM, followed by the Glow Rave featuring circus toys, art and lights, face paints and projection.

    Suitable for all ages. Family tickets available. The show and party can be booked separately.

  • 30 November
    A Ship of Fools presents
    Welcome to Paradise

    Strap in for the Captain and Raoul’s playfully anarchic rollercoaster to the darkest corners of the grotto where the mould festers under the tree. Imagine the Mighty Boosh teaming up with The League of Gentlemen to present a performance lecture about the evils of capitalism.

    Lilly and the Snowbear

    Lily lives with Grandpa in a little cottage somewhere in the countryside. There are just two more sleeps until Christmas and it’s snowing already. Lily loves snow, so she pops on her coat and sets off to explore. When she discovers a trail of soft little footprints, she’s in for a very big surprise.

Three ghostly stories to delight and horrify, accompanied by the sounds of the violin.
