Avenue Q Wins Variety Club Award In a repeat of its achievements at the 2004 TONY awards in New York, where it won Best Musical, Avenue Q has beaten all the competition again to walk away with the Variety Club Showbiz Theatre Award 2006. The Variety Club gives only one award for theatre and selected Avenue Q as the winner above all the other musicals that have opened this year. Announced at a ceremony on Sunday 19th November, the award was collected by the entire cast. Naoko Mori, from the BBCs hit TV series Torchwood, has joined the cast of Avenue Q in the role of Christmas Eve, taking the place of Ann Harada who has performed the role since the show opened in London in June and who originated the part on Broadway.
In addition, on Monday 4th December the entire company will be performing a specially scripted performance featuring top songs from the show at the Royal Variety Performance in the presence of their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
