Sir Alan Ayckbourn

Ayckbourn Suffers Stroke

Playwright Alan Ayckbourn is recovering in hospital in Scarborough after suffering a stroke. He is 66.

"I hope to be back on my feet, or at least my left leg, as soon as possible," he told the BBCt. "I know it's going to take some time. In the meantime, I am in excellent hands."

Ayckbourn, with over sixty plays to his credit, is probably Britain's most prolific playwright. He was knighted for services to drama in 1997.
