Dateline: 27th April, 2007
Michael Ball is to give a full-length concert at the Royal Albert Hall on 27th August as part of the BBC Proms. This will be the first time that a music theatre concert has been included in the Proms season since their beginning in August 1895. Responding to allegations that the sereis is "dumbing down" by including Ball's concert, controller Nicholas Kenyon siad that Ball is "he is one of the great, intelligent singing artists alive today" and that he deserves a place as much as "performers in the great classical tradition." No announcement has been made about the content of the concert, except that, according to the Proms Guide, it will run from 8.00pm until about 10.00pm. He will be accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Callum McLeod. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
