Mark Ravenhill
Ravenhill and the Barbican - and Panto?

Next year London's Barbican is to present the first ever panto in its 25-year existence - and it will be written by the often (usually?) controversial Mark Ravenhill.

The show will be a traditional panto, says the venue's Head of Theatre Louise Jeffreys, but will have a modern feel to it. Ravenhill is delighted. “I fell in love with panto when I was four," he said, "and I’ve always wanted to write one. I can’t wait!”

They have chosen Dick Whittington and it will open on 5th Decembe 2006 (previews from 29th November) and will run until 7th January, 2007.
