Bare Bones at the Old Red Lion

Young directors Andrew Dawson, Laura Farnworth, Ned Glasier, Mel Hillyard, Emily Jenkins and Lora Mander are teaming up with up and coming writers Adam Barnard, Tom Jensen, Michael O’Brien, Kieran Lynn, Greg Glover and Rosalind Wyllie on Monday 25th January at 6.30pm & 8.45pm at the Old Red Lion in Islington to present Bare Bones, the first of a new bi-monthly showcase of original short plays chosen by up and coming directors.

Six directors each select an original play. They must then rehearse the play to performance-ready standard with professional actors using only the 'bare bones' necessary - essential props, costume and set - in two weeks.

The process is overseen by producer Rebecca Adamson. She ensures the directors meet regularly in the months prior to the night to share ideas, overcome stumbling blocks and gain valuable skills from each other.

As well as the new directors this is a showcase for new writing talent. Writers submit scripts by a given deadline, and the scripts are forwarded to the six directors to select which play they would like to develop.

“It’s an exciting way not only for the directors and writers to have their work shown to the public in a central London venue but also to forge new working relationships, ones that I hope will last for a long time to come,” Adamson says.
