John Barrowman

The Doctor's New Sidekick in Cabaret

Dr Who's latest sidekick, Captain Jack, aka John Barrowman, is to make his cabaret debut at the Pizza on the Park in Knightsbridge next month, performing two shows a night, at 9.15 and 10.45. Barrowman made his first straight acting appearance in the cult sci-fi series two weeks ago and now joins pop singer Billie Piper as the one of the Doctor's regular companions on his trips through time.

American by upbringing although born in the Scotland, Barrowman began his career as a music theme park worker and then returned to the UK to study Shakespeare at University in London. While there he attended an open audition and was cast as Billy Crocker in Anything Goes opposite Elaine Paige. Thus his music theatre career started, which led to him playing Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard both in the West End and on Broadway and, most recently, reprising Billy Crocker in the National Theatre's Anything Goes.
