Dateline: 8th June, 2006
Barrymore Returns in Scrooge Michael Barrymore, whose theatrical career came to an abrupt end when he abandoned his West End debut at Wyndham's in 2003 after three performances and poor reviews, is to play Ebenezer Scrooge in a tour of Scrooge the Musical later this year. Beginning at the Wolverhampton Grand from 14th to 18th November, the show goes on to His Majesty's in Aberdeen the following week and then runs at the Sunderland Empire from 5th December to 13th January, 2007. Other dates are expected to be announced later, with a possibility of a West End transfer later in 2007. Magician Paul Kieve, who is responsible for the magical effects in the Harry Potter films, will create the illusions. The show has book, music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
