Now It's Sir David

David Jason has been awarded a Knighthood in the Queen's Birthday Honours List, announced today. Other theatre people receiving honours include Dame Judi Dench who becomes a Companion of Honour and actresses Mona Hammond (Talawa, National Theatre, Royal Court, RSC) and Stephanie Cole are awarded the OBE, as is actor Michael Medwin. Also awarded an OBE is Patsy Rodenburg, head of voice at the Guildhall and the National Theatre.

MBEs go to Deborah Barnard, director of the Ludus Dance Company, and Akram Khan of the Akram Khan Company.

An Honorary Knighthood goes to broadcaster Terry Wogan, who, as a citizen of the Irish Republic, cannot receive the "full" award.
