Birthday Honours A number of theatre people have received awards in the 2011 Queen's Birthday Honours list. Veteran TV star Bruce Forsyth receives a knighthood for services to entertainment and to charity and actress Janet Suzman becomes a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE). The honour of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) goes to Colin Firth, Michael Grandage, Peter James who until recently was Principal of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and director Christopher Morahan who did much work with the National Theatre in the seventies and eighties. The OBE goes to Tim Brooke-Taylor, Bernard Cribbins and Graeme Garden whilst recipients of the MBE are:
EastEnders actress Brooke Kinsella also receives the MBE for her work in the prevention of knife crime. In 2008 her 16 year old half-brother Ben was stabbed to death in a London street.
