Beautiful Thing at The Dukes

The 25th anniversary of Beautiful Thing will be celebrated with a new production at Lancaster’s Dukes theatre this autumn.

Tobacco Factory Theatres in association with the Lancaster theatre will present this depiction of life and love on a post-war council estate from November 6 to 10.

Jonathan Harvey’s play will feature pop songs from the 'sixties and 'nineties performed live each night by a local community choir.

Dukes artistic director Sarah Punshon will also be adapting and directing The Dukes homegrown offering for Christmas: Peter Pan.

Performed in The Round, this uniquely Dukes version of the classic tale runs from November 23 to January 5.

Concluding The Dukes new homegrown season will be the première of Nick Ahad’s play Glory which will take audiences inside the wrestling ring to experience a surprisingly funny story about what people will do to achieve glory.

Produced with Red Ladder in association with Tamasha, Glory runs from February 21 to March 2, 2019.

Among the highlights of The Dukes visiting drama season will be Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory’s production of Henry V (October 16 to 20), War With The Newts (September 26), Silence (October 30) and new musical A Super Happy Story (October 23 and 24).
