“Committed, informed and passionate advocate for the arts”: Beccy D’Souza

Nottingham Playhouse has appointed Beccy D’Souza as the artist development producer for its Amplify programme which develops theatre talent based in the Midlands.

Based in Nottingham and primarily an actor, D’Souza has moved into producing in the past five years, co-producing and project managing The Party Somewhere Else Festival at Nottingham Playhouse in 2019 before setting up as an independent producer later that year.

She will work with Nottingham Playhouse artistic director Adam Penford to build the Amplify programme. She will also oversee the annual Amplify festival which showcases performance and early-stage ideas by Amplify artists.

D’Souza said, “as a creative producer, my focus has been to amplify stories and voices. I'm so pleased to be joining Nottingham Playhouse in a role that allows me to continue in that vein.

“While I’m aware this is a particularly challenging time to be working in theatre, I also know there's a wealth of artistic talent in Nottingham and the Midlands, and I’m looking forward to working to support, nurture and provide opportunities for development and networking to Amplify artists.”

Penford added, “we’re delighted Beccy is joining the Playhouse team. We know her to be a committed, informed and passionate advocate for the arts and artists.”
