Belfast's Lyric to Open with Miller Belfast's new £18.1m Lyric Theatre will open on 3rd May with Arthur Miller's The Crucible. It will be directed by Conall Morrison and will star Patrick O'Kane, from Belfast, as John Proctor and Catherine Cusack as Elizabeth Proctor. Lyric regulars Niall Cusack, Julia Dearden, Frankie McCafferty, Lalor Roddy and Roma Tomelty return for the production and they will be joined by Aoife Duffin making her Lyric debut as Abigail Williams, Julie Maxwell in her second appearance for the company and Aisling Groves McKeown who is making her professional debut. The Lyric, the only full-time producing theatre in Northern Ireland, has a 390 seat main auditorium and a second performance studio accommodating between 110 and 150 people, which can be adapted to suit any performance style and will explore experimental work as well as reimagining classic plays and developing the skills of local artists. The new theatre is almost three times the size of the old building and has extensive facilties for both audience and performers.
