Kate's Play's the Thing Kate Betts, a 51-year old English lecturer at Chichester University is the winner of the Channel 4 playwriting competition, The Play's the Thing, with The Third Day. She has an MA in creative writing and has worked with the writers group at Southampton's Nuffield Theatre. The play, chosen in the reality television show, directed by Robert Delamere, will open at the New Ambassadors on 22nd June and will star Maxine Peake, Paul Hilton and Tom McKay. Set in London, a young unattched woman catches the eye of a stranger in a bar. Before the night ends they tell each other secrets that will change their lives forever, going on a journey from the depths of underground caves up to the solar system and into the shattered heart of a broken family.
