After Shakespeare: An Audience with Sir John Falstaff

Artists and companies from across the UK will showcase their work at Birmingham Fest, an independent performing arts festival which is returning for its sixth year.

The two-week festival will cover drama, dance, comedy and poetry, with a large selection of new work and writing.

Some artists and companies use the festival as a taster for Edinburgh. Others use it as a less expensive alternative, especially those in the southern half of the country.

Venues for the festival are the Blue Orange Theatre on Great Hampton Street and multi-purpose venue @ AE Harris in Northwood Street, the home of theatre company Stan’s Café. Both are in the city’s Jewellery Quarter.

Among the highlights will be Inamoment Theatre’s new plays, the latest in Frank Bramwell’s After Shakespeare productions. An Audience with Sir John Falstaff can be seen on Friday 27 July at 9PM and Saturday 28 July at 5PM. Cordelia/Fool will be staged on Saturday 28 July at 9PM. Both will be at the Blue Orange Theatre.

The festival takes place from Friday 13 until Saturday 28 July.
