Dateline: 17th June, 2007
Birthday Honours 2007 This year's Birthday Honours list contains fewer theatre, dance and opera people than usual, although some well-known names are honoured. A knighthood goes to Torquil Patrick Alexander Norman, founder of the Roundhouse Trust, for services to the arts and disadvantaged young people. Barry Humphries and Stephen Poliakoff receive CBEs, as does Professor Stanley Wells, chairman of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. OBEs go to opera singer Stuart Burrows, writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, and actors Carmen Munroe, Peter Sallis and Sylvia Syms. Bill Pertwee gets an MBE for his charity work and the same award goes to Priscilla Baynes (Creative Director, Community Arts Northwest for services to the Arts), Glen Murphy (Actor best known for London's Burning, for charitable services), Ann Oliver (Founder, Leicester College of Performing Arts, for services to Dance and to Drama) and Sarah Catherine Woodcock (for services to Arts Heritage and to Dance).
Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
