Dateline: 17th April, 2007
The National Theatre of Scotland's production of Gregory Burke's Black Watch, the big hit of the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe, will not after all reach London in early summer this year as was originally planned. The production was to have been mounted in May/June in cooperation with the Barbican as part of BITE:07 but it has not proved possible to find a suitable venue although a spokesperson for the company said, "We are confident that Black Watch will appear outside Scotland later in 2007. In this respect, we will continue to explore possible venues in London and beyond." The play is site-specific and requires a large warehouse-like space. It is currently running (until 26th April) at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow, after which it goes on to Loreburn Hall, Dumfries, and then to the Highland Football Academy, Dingwall, Ross and Cromarty. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
