A New London Theatre
On 4th April a new London theatre opens just a stones' through from
the Old Vic and across the road from the Young Vic. The Bookshop Theatre
- a studio space seating just forty people - will open in the Calder
Bookshop at 51 The Cut, Waterloo, with a season by the Godot Company,
celebrating the centenary of Samuel Beckett.
The new theatre has developed from the Thursday night liteary readings
and discussions run by bookshop owner and publisher John Calder, who
is also, along with actor and broadcaster Peter Marinker, the founder
of The Godot Company, an ensemble dedicated to performing Beckett's
work.
On Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4th April, for six months through to
26th September, the company will perform a series of short works, lasting
an hour. Tickets at £7 (£5 concessions) are availabnle from
the box office on 020 7593 1520.
