Boyett/Menier US Link-up US producer Bob Boyett and The Menier Chocolate Factory Artistic Director David Babani announced today an exclusive three-year partnership for presenting the Menier Chocolate Factorys productions in the United States. Broadway will see the first transfer of a Menier Chocolate Factory production under this agreement in the 2007-08 season with the Oliver Award-winning Sunday In The Park With George, which transferred to the West End in London and comes to the Roundabout Theatre Companys Studio 54 in January 2008, directed by Sam Buntrock and starring the original Olivier Award-winning London cast. The move of this production to the West End marked the third transfer of a Menier Chocolate Factory production since it was established only less than four years ago.
Ive been associated with the Menier Chocolate Factory for almost three years because of the daring and excellent work that they produce but this new arrangement takes our relationship even deeper. Im very happy for the opportunity to bring the work of one of Londons newest and most exciting theatre companies to New York and cant wait for audiences here to experience their particular brand of fresh, innovative theatre, said Bob Boyett. The Menier Chocolate Factorys Artistic Director David Babani said, Bobs wealth of experience and excellent taste in producing commercial theatre makes this alliance an especially thrilling one. Sunday In The Park With George will be our first Broadway production and we look forward to many years of collaboration and camaraderie. This is an important next step in our evolution. In April Boyett, with his company Boyett Ostar Productions, announced a renewal of his "first-look" production deal with the National Theatre.
