Stephen Dillane

Bridge Project Delayed

The Bridge Project, a new Anglo-American co-operation between Sam Mendes and Caro Newling's Neal Street Productions, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) and the Old Vic, has been put back by a year, it was announced this week.

The reason for the delay is that Stephen Dillane, who was to play Hamlet and Prospero, has had to withdraw. A joint statement said, "With great regret and due to personal reasons arising from family illness, Dillane has had to withdraw from the initial cycle of this three-year initiative. The producers of The Bridge Project accept his decision with great sympathy and look forward to the future date when his partnership with Mendes in this venture will be resumed."
