Where Next for Bristol? In the aftermath of Bristol Old Vic's recent and sudden announcement to close for refurbishment, Theatre Bristol (Bristol's theatre development partnership) is inviting everyone who feels passionately about the future of theatre in Bristol, to a meeting at Circomedia Portland Square on Saturday 21st July, called So, where do we go from here? So, where do we go from here? will not be a conventional meeting or conference. Instead Theatre Bristol has asked Phelim McDermott of London-based theatre company Improbable to facilitate an Open Space event. Open Space is creative way of structuring a meeting to allow the participants to set the agenda. Open Space is a process which is completely democratic and without boundaries and helps turn talking into action. This will be Bristol's second Open Space event. The first, hosted by Theatre Bristol in December 2006, was attended by people from all areas of Bristol's theatre community: actors, theatre companies, artists, audiences, curators, producers, directors, playwrights, trainers, consultants, designers, technicians, Youth Leaders, board members, students, Bristol Old Vic, Arts Council England, Bristol City Council and many others. The event proved to be an excellent way of bringing together Bristol's theatre community to talk and create action to develop Bristol's theatre scene. Theatre Bristol is a partnership between people working in Bristol's Theatre Industry, Arts Council England and Bristol City Council working to develop Bristol's Theatre Industry. Its ethos is about working together to achieve something greater than the sum of its parts. Theatre Bristol hopes that So, where do we go from here? will be an opportunity to turn recent events around and make something exciting happen for Bristol's theatre scene. So, where do we go from here? will take place on Saturday 21st July 2007 at Circomedia Portland Square in Bristol from 10am - 7pm. Tickets are available from Colston Hall Box Office on 0117 922 3686. They are £5 Full price and Concessions are 'Pay What You Can'. Reporter: Pete Wood
