Brits Win International Honours Andrew Lloyd Webber, in Budpest for the Hungarian premiere of The Beautiful Game, has been awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit by Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany. "One just cannot understand the culture of our days without knowing the musicals of Lloyd Webber," the Prime Minister sad. "His music binds people who live in faraway places, it bonds the West End and Budapest." And actor Colin Firth has received an Italian honour: he has been created a Commander of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity, which he received for his "significant contribution to the promotion of Italy's image in the UK". Firth is married to Italian producer Livia Giuggioli, is fluent in the language and regularly organises events at the Italian Cultural Institute in London. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
