Derbyshire venue Buxton Opera House has started a monthly podcast which will give listeners a chance to take a peek behind the scenes with interviews, masterclasses and more.

Directors, performers, artists and creatives will share their experiences and knowledge of the theatre in The Cast from Buxton Opera House.

The first two episodes will be available to download on Tuesday 22 June. They both feature chief executive and artistic director Paul Kerryson who was awarded an MBE in 2015 for his services to the theatre industry.

The podcast will give listeners an opportunity to learn about the Opera House’s own productions and its learning and engagement programme as well as hearing about visiting shows.

Future episodes will include an interview with the set designers of A Little Night Music, the Opera House’s first co-production with Buxton International Festival.

Head of marketing and audiences Emma Oaks said, “it’s so exciting to be expanding how audiences can learn more about the Opera House. Through our monthly podcast, we really hope to give audiences that exclusive look behind the scenes. It’s thanks to the culture recovery fund that we’re able to make this podcast series and discover new ways of communicating with our audiences.”

The Cast from Buxton Opera House is hosted by press and content officer Helen Naylor and produced by Pete Allen from Carrot Cruncher Media. It will be available on Apple Podcasts.
