The Journal Culture Awards 2014

North east regional newspaper The Journal invites nominations for its annual Culture Awards which recognise the talent and work of the region's creative community during 2014.

Nominations for the 2014 awards, which recognise work and events which took place or came to public attention between 1 January and 31 December 2014, will be open until 28 February 2015.

The awards are open to anyone who has made a significant contribution to the north east cultural landscape in 2014.

Anyone can nominate an individual or an event for consideration. Nominations will be considered from audience members or even from performers or arts organisations themselves.

Once the nominations are collected (the closing date will be 28 February 2015), a judging panel will select a longlist and then a shortlist before choosing the winner and two finalists in each category, except the Special Contribution award which has only one recipient.

Fifteen bespoke trophies will be presented in the following categories for The Journal Culture Awards 2014:

This award recognises a north east-based artist whose work has left a lasting impression in 2014. This nomination could be for one particular piece of an individual’s work or an exhibition or showcase.
