Cardiff Dance Festival
For the first time ever, Cardiff is to have its own dance festival
this year. From 19th May to 18th June in five venues in the city - Chapter
Arts Centre, the New Theatre, the new Diversions Dance House,
the Sherman Theatre and the Wales Millennium Centre - twelve dance companies
from across the world will perform for Cardiff audiences.
"I am delighted that, after many years of dreaming and planning,
Cardiff will finally get its own international dance festival this summer,"
said Roy Campbell-Moore, director of Diversions. "It will be joining
a long list of other European capitals that celebrate the art form in
similar ways"
At the launch earlier this week, Welsh Assembly Member for Cardiff
South & Penarth and a member of the Assembly's Culture Committee
Lorraine Barrett added, "In 2006 we hope to unite Cardiff, Swansea
and Wales in collaborating on an even bigger dance festival, and I am
looking forward to the cities working in step together."
