The Rooms 2016

Newcastle’s Alphabetti Theatre has announced casting for the three plays which will make up The Rooms 2016, which will run from 27 October to 5 November.

The Rooms is a dark promenade performance which takes place in unusual spaces at Alphabetti Theatre. It follows three rather odd characters and explores ideas of terrorism, relationships, paranoia and obsession. The audience are led around intimate, intriguing and unknown spaces being greeted by each character along the way.

Last year’s three plays were all one-woman shows and featured Arabella Arnott, Rosie Stancliffe and Jessica Johnson whilst this year’s crop are for one man and are written and directed by women.

A Terrorist’s Guide to Romance by Laura Lindow features Citizen X, a righteous man who has plans for this city, plans that will blow your mind. It will be directed by Rachel Glover and performed by James Hedley.

What we learn from Sarah Gonnet’s Word Salad is “you shouldn’t be worried about psycho killers, you should be worried about your partner.” Robert Nicholson plays Matthew—“I can get pretty obsessive… have I already said that?”—and Rosie Stancliffe directs.

The third play is Becci Sharrock’s Backstreet Salesman. Loner Z has been an entrepreneur ever since that night with Geordie and Sammy when he woke up to the smell of blood... Matt Miller is Z and Karen Traynor directs.
