Casting for Yarico première

Liberty Buckland will make her professional stage début when she plays Amerindian heroine, Yarico, in the world première of the musical based on her true story.

Alex Spinney plays opposite. His credits include Our House, Cinderella the Rock 'n' Roll Panto and Adam Guettel.

Also in the cast are Melanie Marshall, Tori Allen-Martin, Jean-Luke Worrell, Michael Moulton, Keisha Amponsa Banson, Michael Mahony, Suzanne Ahmet and Adam Vaughan.

Yarico is a love story musical with an anti–slavery theme; it has a book by Carl Miller whose work includes the adaptation of Erich Kästner’s Emil and the Detectives for the National Theatre, music by James McConnell past winner of the Vivian Ellis Prize for young writers for the musical stage and composer of over 100 television and film scores and lyrics by Paul Leigh, co–writer of Moll Flanders with George Stiles.

Emily Gray directs, the musical director is Zara Nunn and the choreographer is Jeanefer Jean-Charles.

Yarico plays London Theatre Workshop from 17 February to 14 March.
