Purring with pride: The Cat in the Hat

A new production of Dr Seuss’ story of mischief and chaos, The Cat in the Hat, will be the Christmas 2018 show for children and families at Leicester’s Curve.

The theatre will co-produce the show with Rose Theatre Kingston who also got together to stage David Wood’s adaptations of George’s Marvellous Medicine in 2017 and The Witches in 2015.

Curve’s chief executive Chris Stafford and artistic director Nikolai Foster said, “we’re positively purring with pride to announce what is sure to be another superbly playful production for young folk, their families and schoolchildren.

“Christmas at Curve is always special and Dr Seuss’s wonderfully mischievous story of The Cat in the Hat has entertained children around the world for generations.

“We’re thrilled our associate director Suba Das is charged with wrangling the anarchic cat, joined by a purrfect production team, featuring Tasha Taylor-Johnson’s whiskerful tunes and tail-defying circus-inspired moves.”

The Cat in the Hat will run in Curve’s 300-seat Studio from Saturday 8 December until Saturday 12 January 2019. Irving Berlin’s White Christmas will take to the main stage from Thursday 6 December until Sunday 13 January 2019.
