Northampton Royal and Derngate’s co-production of Tennessee Williams’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is transferring to Northampton for a two-and-a-half-week run.
The play opened in Newcastle at the Northern Stage and later moves to Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre.
Royal and Derngate’s artistic director James Dacre, who directs, said, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, written on the eve of the sexual and civil rights revolution, is one of America’s greatest plays.
“I’m thrilled that Royal and Derngate, Northern Stage and the Royal Exchange—all as intimate and as grand as the story itself—are working together for the first time to stage Tennessee Williams’s incendiary masterpiece.”
The cast includes Kim Criswell as Big Mama, Daragh O’Malley as Big Daddy and Maria Gale as Maggie the Cat. Original music is by the band White Lies. Design is by Mike Britton.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof plays on Northampton’s Royal stage from Wednesday (1 October) until Saturday 18 October.
