Celebrating Pavlova

The Russian Ballet Icons Gala 2012, a grand gala evening in honour of Anna Pavlova will be held at 7pm on the 4th March on the stage of the English National Opera at the London Coliseum.

Part of the Russian Ballet Icons series, the gala evening opens the Pavlova 2012 Festival marking the centenary of Anna Pavlova making her home in London at Ivy House, which has now become a place of pilgrimage for ballet lovers. Arts promoter Ensemble Productions is proud to present the evening accompanied with the orchestra of the English National Ballet under the direction of Valeriy Ovsyannikov.

The gala will feature several pieces from Pavlova's repertoire such as Paquita, The Pharoah's Daughter, Le Roi Candaule, Giselle, La Bayadére, The Sleeping Beauty, Marcobomba, and rarely performed pieces Egyptian Nights and Dragon Flight, which will be restored especially for this gala.

Taking part will be dancers from the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theatres, the Royal Ballet, the English National Ballet and the Grand Paris Ballet, the Berlin and the Bavarian Staatsoper, American Ballet Theatre and Milan's La Scala.

Under the direction of English National Ballet's artistic director, Wayne Eagling, performers will include Tamara Roho, Sergei Polunin, Alina Cojocaru, Johan Kobborg, David Makhateli, Alina Somova, Svetlana Zakharova, Vladislav Lantratov, Olga Smirnova, Anastasia Stashkevich, Vyacheslav Lopatin, Igor Zelensky, Natalia Somova, Giuseppe Picone, Ulyana Lopatkina, Marat Shemiunov, Vadim Muntagirov, Daria Klimentova, Lucia Lacarra, Marlon Dino, Yana Salenko, Marian Walter, Irina Dvorovenko, Maxim Beloserkovsky, Alessio Carbone and Dorothée Gilbert.
