The Tempest: half the cast will live within a 40-mile radius of Northampton

Young people aged between 18 and 25 are being given the opportunity to perform in Northampton Royal and Derngate’s summer 2016 production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

The theatre is collaborating with the National Youth Theatre for the first time on the production which marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

Adapted by Rebecca Lenkiewicz and directed by Caroline Steinbeis, The Tempest will be performed by a cast of 30: half will be chosen through nationwide auditions and the rest must live within a 40-mile radius of Royal and Derngate. The play will run from Thursday 3 June until Saturday 2 July.

Auditions will take place at the theatre on Thursday 18 February. Further details are available at the Royal and Derngate web site.
