Song Success for Chiasmus

North Wales based theatre company Chiasmus Productions have announced the success of a number of songs written for their shows in three major international competitions.

Two songs taken from their new musical A Knock At The Door have just been awarded second prizes in the Theatre and Lyrics categories of the BRIT and Guild of International Songwriters and Composers sponsored UK Songwriting Contest. Another five songs reached the finals in both the Theatre and the Pop categories, and all their entries were listed amongst the highest rated in the peer review sections.

Three further songs from the same show have also just won major prizes in the Broadway Category of the Unisong International Songwriting Contest.

This news comes soon after the writers of A Knock At The Door, Nicol Walsh (lyrics) & Ville Hildén (music), were given an Outstanding Achievement in Song Writing Award from the Songwriters' Resource Network. Two songs from the show were judged to be amongst the Top Five Winners, and another three were selected to receive Honour Awards as they made it into the Top Finals of the Great American Song Contest.

Based in Llandudno, N. Wales, Chiasmus Productions is a theatre company which seeks "to make musical and theatrical magic in an exciting age of cross cultural creativity". Founded and directed by songwriters Ville Hildén and Nicol Walsh, their aim is to "produce high quality, well crafted musicals, plays and multi media presentations for the 21st century."

A selection of the winning songs can be heard at www.myspace.com/chiasmusx and www.myspace.com/chiasmusmusicaltheatre.
