Dateline: 9th April, 2007
Jennifer Ellison has sustained a dance injury and will not be performing as Roxie Hart in Chicago at the Regent Theatre Stoke-on-Trent, where she was due to open today. She has a dislocated patella as well as tendon and ligament damage and says she is devastated not to be appearing. Haley Flaherty will therefore take over the role in Stoke-on-Trent. She has been sharing the role with Ellison on the tour, which opened in Birmingham last autumn. Haley Flaherty has previously played in Chicago both in the Far East and on tour in the UK. Her West End credits include Saturday Night Fever, Thoroughly Modern Millie and playing Sandy in Grease at the Dominion Theatre. Chicagoproducer David Ian says, "I'm of course extremely disappointed that Jennifer won't be able to perform in Stoke. She has been magnificent in our production and is a much valued and loved member of our company. We all wish her a very speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back on stage soon. Thankfully we are extremely lucky to be able to call upon Haley Flaherty to play the part of Roxie in Jennifer's absence. Having shared the role of Roxie since the start of the tour, Haley has proved to be sensational with incredible reviews for her performances. I'm delighted she is able to step in for us as an experienced Chicago performer and I know the audience will adore her." Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
